    Kruger Safari Tours & other wildlife related tours

    Local tour operators offer a range of guided walking and driving tours into the Kruger and other nearby game parks. There are morning, afternoon and full day safaris with qualified guides. These include driven tours / walking tours and even night drives with bush braais into the park. Guests are picked up at the Kruger Park Lodge reception and taken to Kruger National Park for their game experience.

    Kruger Park Morning Walking Safari

    Your walk takes place in the world famous Kruger National Park where a National Parks Ranger is ready to introduce you to a number of skills such as tracking, the use of plants and trees in medicine, as well as bird and animal identification.
    Walks are conducted in an area that is renowned for its rhino population, which makes a “Big 5″ sighting a realistic possibility. A short game drive to and from the walking area adds to the thrill of the day.

    Kruger Park Night Safari and Deluxe Bush Braai

    Experience the thrill of a night safari, being driven in an open vehicle with powerful spotlights to expose the shy, nocturnal animals you may encounter. Enjoy a superbly presented bush braai in the middle of the Kruger National Park . A wonderful candle-lit buffet awaits you surrounded by the velvety darkness of the African night and brilliant stars in the sky An armed ranger protects you from the lions that may roar nearby! After dinner, you explore the African night on your way back.

    Kruger Park Day Tour

    Experience a unique view of South Africa ’s largest and most famous game reserve, the Kruger National Park , in our specially designed open safari vehicles or in the comfort of an air-conditioned vehicle, accompanied by one of our registered guides, who are all experienced Field Guides. We will provide you with an exciting tour of the Kruger National Park , which is unrivalled in its variety of wildlife – 147 species of mammals and more than 500 species of bird recorded. Our guides will enthral you with their passion and knowledge of the bush and its inhabitants. The openess of the game drive vehicle, allows guests to sense the smell of sun-warmed grasses, the tang of the dust and enjoy the heat of the day while the air-conditioned vehicle allows for a cool and comfy interior. Either way, sit back and relax as your guide shares his knowledge of this region with its abundant animal and birdlife, while in search of the elusive Big Five.

    Elephant-Back Safari

    Guests are seated on comfortable canvas–covered saddles positioned behind an experienced Elephant Handler from where guests are at a vantage point from which to view wildlife in close proximity as the elephants move silently and in single file through the bush. The unique and memorable experience of interacting with Africa ’s gentle giants will be savoured long after guests alight from the patiently kneeling elephants. The safari includes a talk by the elephant master on behaviour before the ride and a drink stop.

    Panorama route & Cultural tours

    Numerous tour operators also offer a range of other tours in the region including the scenic panorama route. Full day tours of the Panorama Route, visiting God’s Window, Bourke’s Luck Potholes, the Three Rondawels and the Blyde River Canyon, Lisbon Falls and Berlin Falls. A side trip to Pilgrim’s Rest can be included if time permits. Additionally, take a trip to the local Shangana village and eat a meal there.

    Panorama Tour

    A full day tour winding your way through pine and eucalyptus forests whilst discovering some of Mpumalanga’s most spectacular scenery and breathtaking views.
    Your tour will take you to the breathtaking Blyde River Canyon, the third largest canyon in the world, to view stunning rock formations. Afterwards you will visit spectacular sites such as God’s Window, Wonderview, Three Rondavels and Bourke’s Luck Potholes; which are deep cylindrical cavities formed by swirling waters as a result of water erosion over thousands of years. You will visit the sleepy old mining town of Pilgrim’s Rest, which has been lovingly preserved since the gold rush and is now a National Monument. Your day will not be complete without a visit to some of the most beautiful and refreshing waterfalls of the region.

    Panorama “Highlights” Tour

    For those with limited time, this tour provides you with an excellent opportunity to experience a few of the highlights of Mpumalanga. You will visit the charming village of Graskop and the spectacular view-site of God’s Window. On your way back to Hazyview you will visit the beautiful Lisbon and Berlin Falls.

    Endangered Wildlife Tour

    Enjoy an educational trip to a centre which contributes to the conservation of endangered species and the rehabilitation of injured and poisoned wildlife. We visit the world-renowned Moholoholo rehabilitation centre and witness the techniques used on a variety of birds and animals. Get up close and personal for a unique interaction experience with the vultures!!!
    After lunch we visit Kapama Game Reserve for a tour of the breeding and research station. Kapama has several resident endangered species, including Wild Dog, the rare King Cheetah and Aardwolf.

    Shangana Cultural Village Evening Festival

    Venture back in time and spend a vibrant evening with the valley’s original inhabitants, the Shangaan people. The Village situated high in the Sabie River Valley offers a fascinating insight into early tribal life and culture. The highlight of the visit is the display of traditional song and dance accompanied by a Royal Feast. Nestled in the shade of huge Umbhaba trees are the traditional villages of the Shangaan people. We browse through the market and meet the Chief. As the sun sets behind the mountains, drums beat and torch-lit processions arrive where choirs and dancers tell the story of their culture. Traditional dinner is served in traditional huts, by a Shangaan hostess.

    Sometimes the best way to see the surrounding area and its game reserves is by renting a car and taking your own “Self Drive” tours. Roads are generally in good condition and excellent maps are available from tourist information offices. Otherwise there are many very good tours and tour operators local to Hazyview and surrounds that you might want to consider.
